USPS Memo re: Acceptance Scans for eBay Packages

10 Mar 2016 Blog

Nate Heyward, eBay’s USPS liaison, recently shared with Griff this very important USPS memo concerning acceptance scans for eBay packages and the new 15.999-0unce weight limit for USPS First Class Packages. It was sent to every USPS postmaster in the country with instructions for them to inform their employees accordingly.

If you are having trouble getting acceptance scans on your packages, or experiencing pushback when you request them — or being told that packages over 13 ounces but under 16 can’t be shipped via USPS First Class — Griff suggests that you print out this memo and bring it to your local post office. If that doesn’t work, let them know that you’ll be sending their station name and address to eBay’s USPS liaison, then forward that information to [email protected] so Griff can pass it along to Nate, who will address the issue with USPS.

Here’s the memo:

eBay Customer Transactions
Please note the following USPS policy from Kelly Sigmon, VP Retail & Customer Service Operations pertaining specifically to eBay packages presented for USPS acceptance at the retail counter and back office.
• In January, 2016 Commercial Plus Pricing was eliminated
• eBay customers generate labels through Pitney Bowes for Commercial Based Pricing or their Negotiated Service Agreements (NSA) pricing
• ALL eBay prepaid parcels MUST receive an acceptance scan
• This also confirms USPS policy on pre-paid acceptance that we complete a pre-acceptance scan and provide a receipt for any customer that requests it, at no charge. If the customer wants a receipt, our SSAs should use POS or an MPOS device and comply with the request
• Sales & Service Associates should be performing a non-financial transaction unless the customer is purchasing additional extra services
• Commercial First-Class Package Service is now available for parcels weighing up to 15.999 ounces
